We are delighted to have Alumnus Jim Bankoski, ’91, Engineering Director at Google, graciously host an alumni gathering at Google in Mountain View on Thursday, September 22nd.
Jim is in charge of Chrome Media’s Compression efforts. He’s the former CTO of On2 Technologies (acquired by Google in 2010), and a technical contributor to all of On2’s and later Google’s codecs from Tm2x through VP9; including video codecs widely used in Flash and Skype and now WebM. He is also a Technical Consultant for the hit HBO Series Silicon Valley.
Following a short tour of the Google campus, Jim will share his insights on:
-How his time at Binghamton provided the foundation for landing a role at one of the world’s most innovative companies
-The process of launching a startup to being acquired by Google
-What Jim does in his current role at Google
-What makes Google different and what is it like to work there
-What does it mean to be a Technical Consultant for the hit HBO Series Silicon Valley
-Jim’s role in encouraging diversity in the tech sector
-You will also have plenty of time to network and connect with other alumni in attendance.
This is a complimentary event sponsored by the Binghamton University Alumni Association and the San Francisco Alumni Chapter which will include light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. Register online by Monday, September 19 to secure your spot.
