It is now time to register for the Rowdy Townie 40th Reunion (Friday, July 31 – Sunday, Aug. 2)! I have been working over the past couple of months with the Alumni Relations office to establish a schedule of events that will allow us to catch up with one another, spend some time throughout the local community and see how the University continues to grow and improve.

Our reunion coincides with the Alumni Golf Classic being held on Friday, July 31 at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Registration and tournament details can be found on the Alumni Golf Classic website if you are interested in participating.

Our reunion will include a campus tour, time to check out the annual Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally at Ostiningo Park, dinner at Nirchi’s on the Avenue, and brunch at Traditions at the Glen to name a few. Click here to view our full schedule of events for the weekend. We will again have the opportunity to stay on campus starting on Thursday night in the Mountainview Residential Community which has central air conditioning. Rates will be $50/night for a double room, $32/night for a single room, and $10 per person for linens.

Please call the Alumni Relations office at 607-777-2424 to register. The staff will confirm which events you plan on attending throughout weekend and will take payment if you are planning to stay on campus. Did you know that you are BOLD? We sure did! BOLD stands for Bearcats of the Last Decade and refers to our alumni who have graduated in the past ten years. We know that our BOLD alumni have unique interests, goals and aspirations. As co-chairs of the local alumni chapter, we are excited to host programs and events that suit you. In fact, we have an event coming this month.

Your Alumni Association’s Greater Binghamton Chapter is excited to invite you to an exclusive networking event in partnership with the Southern Tier Young Professionals (STYP) group at Social on State on July 30. This event will be an opportunity for you to meet other BOLD alumni in the area as well as members of STYP. The event will be held on the patio, or indoors if it rains, and food and drink specials will be offered. BOLD alumni are encouraged to register here. All who register will receive a gift at the event. You may also wish to join our Facebook event to see who else will be attending.

There is no cost to attend, but we ask that you please register online so we know to expect you. This will be the second BOLD-specific event in the area, with others on the horizon.

The Long Island Committee of the Metro New York Chapter is excited to offer a unique event for Bearcats of the Last Decade (BOLD) alumni this summer. BOLD alumni are invited to come out for a great night of networking, food and drinks in a fun and relaxed environment.

While you are at the event, you will have the opportunity to connect with other BOLD alumni and share valuable insights about your profession, industry, and/or company (or in the case of our newer graduates, the opportunity to learn what it takes to be successful from your fellow BOLD members)

The cost is $20/person and includes a buffet dinner and one drink. A cash bar will also be available.

Please register online prior to Friday, July 31. We will be unable to offer refunds after the registration deadline.

Thank you for registering for tomorrow night’s event at Quirky. Courtney Huff in the Alumni Relations office had e-mailed you yesterday, but we wanted to make sure you received word about a change in plans.

Because of circumstances out of our control, we will not be able to meet at Quirky, so our plans to have an event there are postponed indefinitely. For more information, please visit the Quirky website. We fully intend to plan an event once Quirky is able to resume normal operations, and we’ll be in touch when a new date has been selected.

We would still like to hold an event tomorrow night, so please join us at the Atwood (986 2nd Ave., Manhattan, at 52nd Street), starting at 6 p.m. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be provided and drink specials will be offered.

No cost to attend, but rental fees range from $15-$20/hour

Join your fellow DC BOLD Alumni (Bearcats of the Last Decade) on Tuesday, August 18 as we enjoy the gorgeous summer weather. We will meet at the Key Bridge Boathouse at 6:15 p.m. and set sail at 6:30 p.m. for one hour. You may rent a stand up paddle board, a one or two person kayak, and have some fun in the sun and water, while getting a little workout.

Wear clothing that is appropriate for being in or near water.

Parking in Georgetown can be tricky, if not impossible, so if you plan on driving please leave plenty of time to park and walk over. There are buses that run along Wisconsin Ave. The nearest metro stop is Foggy Bottom and then a 1.2 mile walk to the boathouse.

Chapter Launch Event – Rochester

We are very excited to invite you to our Alumni Association’s Rochester Chapter launch event hosted by alumni employees at Constellation Brands, Tom Kane, MBA ’87, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, and Tom Mullin ’73, Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger will be joining us for this momentous occasion. He looks forward to meeting you and sharing the exciting developments taking place at our University. A tremendous class of students will arrive in Binghamton in a matter of weeks, and our campus has a number of impressive new facilities. In fact, if you visit campus for Homecoming 2015 in October, you can see one of them – a brand new Alumni Center in Old O’Connor Hall.

Chuck Pleeger, husband of Shari Pfleeger ’70, LHD ’00 will lead a building tour in addition to highlighting three exhibits: Hot to Cold, Designing for Disaster and House and Home.

Afterwards, you may enjoy The BEACH, an “ocean” of nearly one million recyclable translucent plastic balls spanning across the Museum’s Great Hall!!

Congratulations! You’re a member of our Alumni Association’s Metro New York Chapter! Since our re-launch in the summer of 2013, more than 1,400 Binghamton University alumni and friends have attended chapter-sponsored events, and we look forward to seeing you at our future events.
